The Modfountain Story

The Artist

Randy Bolander’s commissioned works are held in numerous collectiions throughout the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean.

In 2013 Bolander launched his large scale water feature business Modfountain at the American Society of Landscape Architects in Boston. The response was overwhelming. Professional landscape architects raved about the designs and began siting his work in projects throughout the USA.

Simultaneously, Bolander took the Modfountain trade show to cities across the country. To illustrate the different designs, he created a series of working models. Convention goers would comment that they loved the small water features and asked if they were for sale.. Bolander's first foray into the smaller versions was an 18" tall version he named the Mini-Mod. Customers began asking for a larger version so he scaled up the Mini to a 36" tall version and named it the Midi-Mod. The Midi's turned out to be popular so he discontinued the Mini's and focused solely on producing the Midi-Mods.

Each Midi-Mod is rigidly constructed from steel and proudly bear the artist's signature engraved at the bottom of each fountain.

Randy's Design Aesthetic

Minimalism drives my aesthetic. Less, as they say, is more. Partnering with architects and patrons to design into a specific space is one of my passions. I am driven by an innate need to produce things that have never been seen before. I believe artists can change the world and can change your mind – creating a powerful combination of provocation and beauty, art solicits an emotional response and creates conversation. Art creates community by connecting all of us as we immerse ourselves in the observation of art together. MODFOUNTAIN exists to create these interactive experiences for everyone.
